Fresh Water Ponds
|
Fresh water ponds come in all sizes and all shapes. Most fresh water ponds are actually man made, and can support fish and natural vegetation while providing an oasis of serenity and beauty to the surrounding area. A fresh water pond can be an enjoyable experience for fishing, and you can also go rafting, or boating on it if you would like. Having a fresh water pond on your property gives you and your family a life time of fond memories. Fresh water ponds will sustain fish, frogs, natural vegetation, insects, and of course fresh water algae. You'll know that the pond's water is fresh, and not polluted when you see all of the fish and plants that thrive in the pond's Eco system. If you live in a rural area that doesn't have a lot of oil and gas drilling going on, it's quite common to travel past several fresh water ponds while taking a nice walk in the woods. Ponds usually aren't very deep, and most won't be over four to six foot deep unless it is a very big fresh water pond. You can easily put in a fresh water pond on your existing property. Just decide where and how big and deep you'll want your fresh water pond. You'll want to make and keep your fresh water pond deep enough so that it doesn't get to hot from the sun's rays and still keep it safe for children to be around without fear of them getting in water over their heads. Putting a fresh water pond around some good shade trees will provide the ideal situation for keeping it cool even on the hottest days.
You'll also enjoy stocking your fresh water pond with fish that you can catch later as they grow and multiply. Fish love the fresh water, and will thrive in your fresh water pond better than some rivers nowadays. Enjoy the fresh water pond and don't be afraid to take a small boat out on it, and do a little fishing on your own property when the weather is right and the fish are biting. |
